Wicked Plant Art - Tarot Deck
I had a thought: What if my Wicked Plant Art became characters in the Major Arcana tarot deck? So naturally, I went down that rabbit hole one weekend and emerged with a complete set of 22 cards. I am learning to “fail faster,” which means turning an idea into something tangible before I have time to overthink it. Before logging off for the weekend, I uploaded the deck to MakePlayingCards.com and ordered a print-on-demand sample.
It was fun to see this experiment come to life. Because each deck costs me about $40 to produce, I may not offer them for sale, but for now, here’s a peek at this artsy project.
Wicked Plants Meet the Tarot
This deck pairs the 22 cards of the Major Arcana with my mysteriously wicked plants. Like the plants themselves, the cards remind us that healing and harm, beauty and danger, and wisdom and foolishness often grow side by side.
The deck includes each plant in my Wicked Plant Art collection:
- 00 The Fool: Poison Ivy
- 01 The Magician: Voodoo Lily
- 02 The High Priestess: Henbane
- 03 The Empress: Hydrangea
- 04 The Emperor: Wolfsbane
- 05 The Hierophant: Hellebore
- 06 The Lovers: Belladonna
- 07 The Chariot: Yarrow
- 08 Strength: Stinging Nettle
- 09 The Hermit: Rue
- 10 Wheel of Fortune: Venus Flytrap
- 11 Justice: Foxglove
- 12 The Hanged Man: Mandrake
- 13 Death: Hemlock
- 14 Temperance: Wormwood
- 15 The Devil: Poppy
- 16 The Tower: Oleander
- 17 The Star: Mullein
- 18 The Moon
- 19 The Sun
- 20 Judgement: Dieffenbachia
- 21 The World: Luna Thorne
A card drawn upright generally reveals the opportunities or lessons unfolding in your life.
A reversed (or upside-down) card may reveal blocked energy, an internal struggle, or something requiring closer examination.
